Only one goal in his first ten Premier League outings this season had numerous wondering whether Dominic Calvert-Lewin's prime were behind him.

Yet, a just four weeks later, he has become the most talked-about striker in England following scoring 7 goals in six straight games.

His latest goal, in a 1-1 draw versus Sunderland, elevated his tally to eight, making him the highest English scorer in the Premier League so far this season.

A Stunning Resurgence

The 28-year-old moved to Leeds United on a free transfer in the summer, after a nine-year spell with Everton that was hampered by setbacks in its final stages.

But, the numbers supporting his revival in Daniel Farke's new fast-breaking 3-5-2 formation are extremely notable.

His six-game scoring streak sees him in prestigious company as only the 11th English player to score in six or more straight Premier League matches.

To put that into perspective, even England captain Harry Kane never managed a run of this length - his top stands at two individual five-match runs.

And the sole English striker to outdo Calvert-Lewin in recent memory is Jamie Vardy, who embarked on an eight-game scoring run for Leicester City in 2019.

What is behind Calvert-Lewin so tough to stop in recent weeks? A latest opponent's manager described it succinctly.
